Dr. Bin Hu's research group at the University of Houston is seeking highly motivated PhD applicants with a passion for machine learning, control, and optimization. Our research group maintains close ties with leading researchers at Rice University on a range of interdisciplinary research projects, from developing safe machine learning algorithms for human-AI system to designing control and optimization algorithms for robotic systems and autonomous vehicles. About Dr. Bin Hu
Dr. Bin Hu received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame in 2016, and M.S. from Zhejiang University in 2010. He is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Houston. Dr. Hu’s research interests lie in the areas of cybersecurity, control, optimization/game theory and machine learning, as well as their applications in wireless communications, robotics, human-AI collaboration, vehicular networked systems and manufactory automation. His research has been funded by grants from NSF and ONR. Dr. Hu has actively involved students in his funded research, and has supervised over ten students for their research projects since 2018. Dr. Hu has published 40+ peer reviewed papers in IEEE, ACM and ASME journals and conferences, including top ranked journals of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems, IEEE Robotics and Automation Letter (RAL) and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and top ranked conference of IEEE CDC, ACC, IROS and ICDCS.
