Job Title: Research Assistant
Location: Department of Animal and Food Sciences, University of Delaware, Newark, DE, USA
Duties: One master and(or) PhD level graduate research assistantship positions are available in Fall 2023. The student will work on a federally funded project to determine major toxicities for organic nanoparticles such as nano-resveratrol or nano-curcumin and understand the associated mechanisms. The applicant will be trained on multiple bioassays for toxicity evaluation (in silico, in vitro, and in vivo), instrumental analysis, and molecular biology (transcriptomic and metabolomics techniques) for mechanism assessment.
The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to hypothesis development and protocol optimization, on-farm animal feeding and handling, tissue/cell samples collection, and data analysis, depending on their background. Manuscript submission and collaboration with undergraduate students are also expected. More details on the program requirements are available on udel.edu and udel.edu
Benefits: tuition waiver and UD health care are covered. The monthly stipend is no less than $2300.

Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Food or Animal Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or closely related fields
- Undergraduate or graduate research experience
- Basic microbial culture, cell culture or molecular biology techniques
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- GRE score optional but preferred
- Minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA 3.0
- TOEFL: 90 (100 is required for teaching assistantship)
