有意申请者请联系尹骏的电子邮箱1point3acres.com。
Dr. Jun Yin’s lab at the Department of Chemistry of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is recruiting graduate students of MS and Ph.D. levels to study the chemical mechanism and biological functions of protein ubiquitination in the cell. The transfer of the 76-residue ubiquitin to the cellular proteins is mediated by ubiquitin transfer cascades consisting of E1-E2-E3 enzymes and regulates fundamental processes such as cell cycle, metabolism, DNA repair, and apoptosis. To map the ubiquitin transfer pathways in the cell and investigate their roles in cell regulation, the Yin lab has developed an innovative proteomics platform known as “orthogonal ubiquitin transfer (OUT)” that can be used to identify the ubiquitination targets of a designated E3. Over the years, the lab has engineered the OUT cascades with E3s of various classes and discovered new pathways mediated by the E3s to regulate protein degradation, unfolded protein response, antiviral activation, and autophagy. Recent work of the Yin lab has been published in Nature Communications, Science Advances, Cell Chemical Biology, FASEB Journal, and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
The Yin lab is recruiting students interested in engineering ubiquitin transfer enzymes to study their biological functions in the cell. The students will be trained in the broad areas at the interface of chemistry and biology, including phage and yeast cell surface display, structural-based design for engineering protein-protein interactions, proteomics, and biochemical and cellular assays to study protein ubiquitination pathways. Previous trainees of Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows of the Yin lab have moved on to faculty, postdoctoral, and industrial positions in US and China. Please check the lab website at 1point3acres.com for more information about the lab.
Georgia State University is in downtown Atlanta with a supportive academic environment for the training of graduate students. Ph.D. students are supported with an annual stipend of $30,000 with a full tuition waiver. MS students also enjoy tuition waivers and a stipend based on teaching and research load. The GRE test has been waived for graduate applications, so only a TOEFL score of 80 or higher is required for international students to demonstrate their language proficiency. The graduate applications are reviewed all year long, and the students can start in the fall, spring, or summer semesters.
Atlanta is the fourth largest city in the US, with a large Chinese and Asian population. It is conveniently connected to all major cities in the world by air travel, and the housing and living cost is quite affordable. If you are interested in applying to the Yin lab for MS or Ph.D. training positions, please feel free to contact Dr. Jun Yin at 1point3acres.com.
