A PhD position in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Construction Management) is available at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at College of Engineering and Computing, Florida International University. Full financial support (tuition waiver and competitive stipend) will be provided. The students will work on research topics that are related to disaster resilient communities, sustainable and resilient infrastructure systems, and smart and connected communities.

Applicants with a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. Other majors will be considered if the applicant has relevant expertise. The preferred starting time is Spring 2021 or Summer 2021.

About the Advisor
The students will be supervised by Dr. Lu Zhang. Dr. Lu Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability at Florida International University. Her research interests include disaster resilient built environment, sustainable and resilient infrastructure systems, human-building interaction, human-centered value analysis, smart cities, building and civil information modeling, and semantic information modeling. Her research in these areas are supported by grants from different agencies, including National Science Foundation, Florida Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Transportation, Engineering Information Foundation, and Natural Hazards Center.
