Dr. Jun Chen is an assistant professor at San Diego State University aerospace.sdsu.edu. His current research area includes dynamics, control, optimization and artificial intelligence, particularly in data-driven modeling, control and optimization for large-scale networked dynamical systems under uncertainty, with applications on air traffic control/management, UAS traffic management, and autonomous air/ground vehicle systems. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and his B.S. degree in Aeronautics Engineering from Beihang University.
The group is seeking highly motivated students for research positions in the area of control, optimization and machine learning with an emphasis on autonomous systems. The research area includes computational optimal control, stochastic optimization, machine learning, distributed control/computing with applications on UAS traffic management and autonomous vehicles.
The ideal candidate should have excellent mathematical background and strong programming skills (Python, C++, Julia or Matlab). Candidates with good knowledge of dynamics and control, optimization, machine learning/reinforcement learning, modeling and simulation, and UAVs are highly desired.
Successful candidates will receive full tuition support from UC San Diego and a competitive stipend with benefits from San Diego State University. Selected candidates could start as soon as Spring 2020 or Fall 2020. Postdocs and visiting students/scholars are also welcome.
