题目:Whether in politics or in business, leaders of any group need to understand that learning to compromise is ultimately more important than winning.
正文:
Concerning the necessity to compromise when being a leader of a group, the author asserts that learning to compromise is more important than winning, which, in my views, is very reasonable. Because the obligation of a leader is to help the group make more progress in the future, whether by learning from failure or being approbated for taking the championship.
To begin with, being willing to compromise is very essential for a leader to help the whole group reach consensus during decision making, for it is the lubricant to prompt the group cooperation move on more smoothly. It's consented that most leaders are people who do well in conciliating people, and reconciling distinctive viewpoints, which eventually leads to a result that everyone agrees on. Think of a leader who is a staunch supporter standing on one side, berating people who seem to be heretic and unorthodox, obviously the leader's act is not hortative for the whole group members, and even would cause hindrances for the group to march further.
In addition, a leader who is always poised to compromise is always more accessible to gain new angles and fresh perspective from people whose views contradict him, otherwise there would be endless and bootless disputes in the interminable conversation. As a human, the leader knows he is fallible and he couldn't always stand on the right side at the first stage. Therefore, always trying to embrace the contradictory views is an necessary way to broaden one's horizon and gain knowledge as well as catching the chance to correct oneself by aligning others. Although belligerent as heresy is, one can always find something good to learn from. If a leader restricts himself in his own world, never attempts to comprehend different viewpoints and dissect things from distinctive slants, he would be caught in the web weaved by himself and become a person who is undoubtedly narrow-minded and myopic.
To sum up, from reasons listed above, we can conclude that learning to compromise is an indispensable trait of a good leader, for group members can always gain fresh perspective through the concession and it precipitates the whole group making progress more smoothly by making appropriate compromises.
