A fully funded Ph.D. position (starting in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027) is available in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma & Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA (npre.illinois.edu The successful candidate will work in the Lab of Modeling of Nuclear Materials driven by Dr. Jianqi Xi ([email protected]) to study the radiation and corrosion degradation of nuclear materials through multiscale modeling approaches. publish.illinois.edu

Requirements:

• B.S./M.S. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering
• Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English
• The selected candidate should be highly motivated, open-minded, and capable of working in a team

Other desirable skills:

• Experience in molecular dynamics and ab initio codes
• Experience in DFT and MD calculations, and Machine learning
• Programming skills (Python)
• Preferred in multiscale modeling (optional)
