Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Information Science and Technology
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Binghamton University, New York, USA
Start Date: As early as possible; review of applications begins immediately
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Wen's group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Binghamton University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Quantum Information Science and Technology. The successful candidate will join a research program spanning cold-atom platforms, quantum optics, quantum memory, multipartite entanglement, non-Hermitian physics, integrated photonics, and quantum networking.

The project emphasizes both theory and experiment, with particular interest in neutral-atom systems, quantum entanglement generation, quantum memory, and quantum networking. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the development of experimental platforms, theoretical modeling, data analysis, and publication of research results. The position also offers opportunities for collaboration with external research partners and for mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Responsibilities include helping design, build, and operate cold-atom and photonic experimental systems; developing and testing protocols for quantum memory and entanglement generation; carrying out theoretical and numerical modeling relevant to sensing, memory, and networking; analyzing experimental data; and contributing to manuscripts, presentations, and collaborative research activities.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. completed or near completion in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with background in one or more of the following areas: cold atoms, AMO physics, quantum optics, quantum information, non-Hermitian or open quantum systems, photonic interfaces, or experimental quantum platforms. Experience with MOTs, laser systems, optics, instrumentation, vacuum systems, and programming tools such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW is desirable. Strong communication and collaboration skills are expected.

The annual salary will be $62,000–$69,000, plus full benefits, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

To apply, please send a cover letter, curriculum vitae with publication list, and the names and contact information of two references. Interested candidates can directly contact me for details. Applications will be reviewed immediately and will be accepted until the position is filled.
