Postdoctoral Position in Edge AI Algorithm and Hardware Development
Position: Postdoctoral Researcher
Location: The University of Alabama, ECE Department, IMPACT Lab.
Start Date: ASAP.

About IMPACT Lab:
With about 20 million federal funding support, Intelligent and Multi-Level Power-Aware Circuits and sysTems (IMPACT) Lab focus on Edge AI, VLSI, and Emerging Device Design. It includes two Endowed Chair Professors, one Research Professor, ten Ph.D. students, and two postdoctoral researchers. The team is able to provide postdocs with comprehensive support in research and all related aspects.

About the Position:
We invite applications for a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research group in developing next generation Edge AI algorithms and Hardware Design. The successful candidate will work on cutting edge research at the intersection of amazon.comhine learning, embedded systems, optimization, and hardware efficient AI, with applications such as IoT, smart health, and real time learn.1point3acres.com. This position offers opportunities to publish in top-tier venues, conduct federal funded projects, mentor graduate/undergraduate researchers, and contribute to new research directions in efficient and scalable AI.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop novel algorithms for on-device or near-device intelligence, including:
(1) Model compression, quantization, pruning
(2) TinyML / lightweight deep learning
(3) Federated and distributed learning at the edge
(4) Real-time inference on constrained hardware
2. Implement and evaluate algorithms on hardware such as:
(1) Integrated Circuits (digital and analog) and AI accelerator design
(2) Implementation on Microcontrollers, FPGAs, GPUs, NPUs
(3) Implementation on Edge devices (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, etc.)
3.Conduct experiments, analyze results, and publish in high-impact journals and conferences
4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary research team
5. Assist in proposal writing and mentoring graduate students
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Background in machine learning, embedded systems, and IC design.
Demonstrated publication record in relevant areas
