Ph.D. Opening in Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Deep Learning, and Image Processing

PhD position (with full graduate research assistantship-GRA) in Computational and Data Science is available starting in Fall 2026 within the research group of Dr. Junlin Ou at Middle Tennessee State University (sites.google.com).

Research Focus Areas May Include:

• Designing machine learning and optimization algorithms for planning and control
• Developing CPU+GPU computing algorithms for real-time robotics applications
• Creating control frameworks for various robotic platforms

Preferred Qualifications (One or More):

• Solid foundation in control theory, linear algebra, and computational mathematics/mechanics
• Hands-on experience with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or other object-oriented programming languages
• Familiarity with embedded systems and edge-computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson series, Intel NUC, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino
• Strong motivation to tackle real-world engineering challenges and publish impactful research
