I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science (CS) and WINLAB (wireless research center) at Rutgers University. I lead the NextG Wireless and Emerging Computing Systems Laboratory (EXceL).

My group's research interest is in the intersection of wireless networking and mobile computing, computer systems and networks, and emerging non-traditional computing methods including quantum and quantum-inspired computing. More information can be found on our group website: sites.google.com

I have multiple openings for fully-funded PhD [Fall 2026], and I am looking for students who are interested in interdisciplinary research of Wireless x Quantum x AI x Systems. Students with Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or relevant backgrounds are welcome to apply. Our research style is to establish research hypotheses and then build prototype systems to experimentally validate them as systems research, rather than fully theoretical validations. It will be Desirable, if students have any of the following experiences:

  • Experimental wireless platforms (eg, software-defined radios like USRP, IoT devices, smartphones)
  • Computing hardware platforms such as GPUs, FPGAs, and QPUs -- Quantum Processing Units (eg, D-Wave quantum annealers, IBM quantum machines using Qiskit)
  • Emerging optimization algorithms/hardware (eg, Ising machines, Markov chain Monte Carlo-based optimization)
  • System programming, network programming, and parallel computing
  • Signal processing for wireless communications and sensing
  • Applied machine learning for wireless, systems and/or networking problems
If you are interested in working with me, please contact me ( 1point3acres.com ) with your CV and transcript. The PhD application deadline for Fall 2026 is 01/01/2025 ( cs.rutgers.edu ).
