Assistant Professor Qianqian Su at Old Dominion University is recruiting motivated Ph.D. students to join her group in computational accelerator physics in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department.
The research focuses on computational studies and machine learning applications in accelerator physics and plasma-based accelerator concepts, including accelerator design and collider studies. Students will also have opportunities to collaborate with Jefferson Lab.
Candidates with any of the following backgrounds or skills are encouraged to apply:
  • Background in computer science and interest in applying machine learning to scientific and engineering problems.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic theory, numerical methods, or scientific programming (Python, C/C++, Fortran, or HPC).
  • Knowledge in accelerator physics, laser science, or plasma physics.

About the Advisor:
Qianqian Su is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University. She obtained her Ph.D. at UCLA in the Particle-in-Cell and Kinetic Simulation Software Center (PICKSC) research group, specializing in computational accelerator physics with a focus on plasma wakefield acceleration.
