The Imaging of Brain Health (IBH) Lab, directed by Dr. Wei Zhang, Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at Auburn University, studies the biological and environmental factors that shape brain development, adaptation, and resilience across the lifespan. Ongoing projects leverage big data and advanced analytic methods to investigate neurobiological mechanisms underlying mental health.
The IBH lab is recruiting 1–2 fully funded PhD students for fall 2026 for the Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences program in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Auburn University. Applicants with backgrounds in neuroscience, (biomedical) engineering, cognitive science, data science, or related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. Prior research experience, including coding skills, is preferred but not required.
The lab also welcomes visiting scholars and exchange students interested in brain sciences.
Interested applicants should contact Dr. Zhang with their CV and a brief description of their research interests at weiz at auburn dot edu.
About the PI
Dr. Zhang completed a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour in the Netherlands (supervised by Drs. Karin Roelofs, Floris Klumpers, and Christian Beckmann) and postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis with Drs. Janine Bijsterbosch and Deanna Barch. Her work has been published in JAMA Open Network, NeuroImage, Psychological Medicine, Translational Psychiatry, and other leading journals.
