Research Overview
My research aims to address the following question:

What is the worst-case behavior when chatbots are widely deployed in real-world settings, and can we design secure chatbot systems given that current large language models, due to their probabilistic nature, cannot reliably enforce security policies?

Some of the research directions I am currently working on are:

• Chatbot system security: system-level defense by design for chatbot systems and worst-case behavior analysis for chatbot systems.
• Failure modes analysis: use computational pragmatics to investigate the mechanisms underlying failures when models are unable to generalize from security policies.
