Join iConnect Lab at Queen's University BelfastProfessor Zehui Xiong will be joining Queen's University Belfast in the United Kingdom as a Full Professor in late June 2025. He will lead the iConnect Lab (Intelligent Computing and Networking Innovation Lab), which is dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of intelligent computing and next-generation connectivity. At iConnect@QUB, our name reflects our mission. The "i" stands for intelligent, innovative, and inclusive—values that drive our approach to solving real-world problems in computing and networking. "Connect" emphasizes our focus on building seamless, scalable, and secure systems in an increasingly interconnected world. Our research covers a broad range of topics, including semantic communications, wireless systems, edge intelligence, generative AI, the Metaverse, IoT, and next-generation networking. From theoretical foundations to practical deployments, we aim to shape the technologies of tomorrow through impactful and interdisciplinary work. We are currently looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team as Postdoctoral Fellows, PhD Students, Research Assistants, and Visiting Scholars or Students. We especially welcome applications from candidates with strong technical backgrounds and those who hold or are planning to apply for prestigious fellowships such as Marie Curie or Newton. Short bio:Zehui Xiong has served as a Professor at Queen's University Belfast, United Kingdom, since June 2025. Prior to that, he was with Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore. He obtained the B.E. degree with the highest honors in Telecommunications Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He was a visiting scholar with Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University and a visiting scholar with Broadband Communications Research (BBCR) Lab in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Waterloo. His research interests include wireless networks, Internet of Things, edge intelligence, semantic communications, generative AI, and Metaverse. Recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher, he has published more than 250 peer-reviewed research papers in leading journals, with numerous Best Paper Awards from international flagship conferences. He serves as an Editor or Guest Editor for many leading journals such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. Featured in Forbes Asia 30U30, he serves as the Chair for numerous international conferences.
