Professor Introduction:
Professor Jonathan Li is an Associate Professor of Analytics and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Financial Group Professor in Risk Analytics at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. His research lies at the intersection of stochastic optimization, machine learning (AI), and quantitative risk management. As the RBC financial group professor in risk analytisc, he aims at creating intelligent risk management solutions through cutting-edge methodologies in financial econometrics, optimization, and advanced machine learning, including foundational models, large language models, and deep reinforcement learning. His research is supported by NSERC, SSHRC, and Mitacs, and has been published in flagship journals such as Management Science and Operations Research. Ideal Candidate Requirements:
1.Strong mathematical background during undergraduate and master's studies, such as in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc. A background in optimization, machine learning, or Operations Research is a plus.
2. Undergraduate and master's degrees from prestigious universities, including 211, 985 or well-known institutions abroad.
3. High GPA, around 85 or above.
4. IELTS score of 7 or above or equivalent levels in TOEFL; flexibility may be provided for students with strong academic backgrounds.
GRE is not mandatory, but having it may increase the chances of receiving more scholarships.
Admission Period:
The admission schedule is for fall 2025.
