Position Description
The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) at the University of Houston (UH) is seeking two highly motivated PhD students to apply for two research assistant positions (PhD students). The research will focus on statistical modeling, machine learning and trustworthy AI to develop effective and efficient algorithms. The PhD students will be supervised by Dr. Na Zou (nzou1.github.io and is set to begin in Fall 2025. Responsibilities and Qualifications
; Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or closely relevant fields
; Strong self-motivation and effective problem-solving skills
; Experience in statistical and mathematical modeling, with an understanding of real-world data challenges.
; Proficiency in computational experiments with strong programming in Python or similar languages.
The students will receive guaranteed support from Dr. Zou, which includes full tuition and salary support, access to high-performance computational resources with GPUs, conference travel support, and great opportunities for collaboration and networking with experts in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, and the Medical School.
