[Rutgers CS] Multiple Fully-Funded CS PhD Openings - Wireless x Quantum x AI
4911
Principal Investigator (PI): Minsung Kim (sites.google.com)
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science (CS) and the Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB) at Rutgers University.
Rutgers CS is ranked 26th in CSRankings (csrankings.org), and WINLAB is the world's leading wireless research cluster (winlab.rutgers.edu).
My group's research interest is in the intersection of wireless networking and mobile computing, computer systems and networks, and emerging non-traditional computing methods including quantum and quantum-inspired computing. More information can be found on my personal website: sites.google.com
I have multiple openings for fully-funded PhD, and I am looking for students who are interested in interdisciplinary research of Wireless x Quantum x AI x Systems. Students with Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or relevant backgrounds are welcome to apply. Our research style is to establish research hypotheses and then build prototype systems to experimentally validate them as systems research, rather than fully theoretical validations. It will be desirable, if students have any of the following experiences:
- Experimental wireless platforms (e.g., software-defined radios like USRP, IoT devices, smartphones)
- Computing hardware platforms such as GPUs, FPGAs, and QPUs -- Quantum Processing Units (e.g., D-Wave quantum annealers, IBM quantum machines using Qiskit)
- Emerging optimization algorithms/hardware (e.g., Ising machines, Markov chain Monte Carlo-based optimization)
- System programming, network designs, and parallel computing
- Signal processing for wireless communications and sensing
- Applied machine learning for wireless, systems, and/or networking problems
If you are interested in working with me, please contact me (1point3acres.com) with your CV and transcript(s). The PhD application deadline for Fall 2025 is 01/01/2025 (cs.rutgers.edu).
