Position Summary:
A full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chiamvimonvat in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.
The candidate should have experience performing research in a laboratory setting and should have authored peer-reviewed research publications. Applicants should be detail-oriented, conscientious, able to work independently under direction of the principal investigator, and have the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
This position is eligible for visa sponsorship.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Perform independent multi-disciplinary research experiments under the direction of the principal investigator. Develop, design, and conduct complex research projects. Perform scientific data collections, reductions, and analyses involving routine procedures characterized by use of independent judgment. Foster collaborations within the Department and with other units across the University.
2. Utilize molecular biology techniques, and perform immunoblotting, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry.Perform small animal surgery, and utilize unique mouse models in metabolic disorder research.Develop and maintain detailed records of experiments, analyzing and writing findings.
3. Present results at laboratory meetings and conferences.Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, submitting grant applications, and preparing progress reports.
4.Develop and implement protocols as dictated by experimental results.May assist with supervision of laboratory staff. Oversee maintenance of hazardous/chemical waste records and disposal as needed.Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Work Dimensions:
PhD in biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, or related field of study.
Preferred Qualifications:
; Direct, intensive experience with animal models and rodent behavior.
; Experience with molecular mechanisms of voltage-gated sodium channels in the development of cardiac arrhythmias.
; Experience with bioinformatics tools and analyses.
; Experience publishing papers in peer reviewed journals.
