Funded PhD Position at the University of ArizonaOne funded PhD position is available in Fall 2024 in the Building Energy & Sustainability Laboratory (BESLab) in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics (CAEM) at the University of Arizona (U of A). The admitted PhD students are expected to work with Prof. Liang Zhang in the area of Large Language Model (LLM) application for Decarbonization and Sustainability in Smart Buildings and Cities. The specific research topics include but are not limited to 1) deep learning and LLM application in building modeling and control, 2) LLM-enhanced data infrastructure for building decarbonization.
Position Requirements
·A bachelor's or master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field
·Self-motivation, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for scientific research
·Project-based or research-based programming experience (Python is preferred)
·Collaborative research experience with at least one peer-reviewed publication
·(Preferred) Experience or knowledge in building energy modeling (e.g., EnergyPlus), HVAC equipment and design, high performance computing (HPC), or deep learning
