We are looking for two highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join the Laboratory of Dr. Guolan Lu in the Department of Urology at Stanford University School of Medicine. The Lu Lab develops and integrates cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, spatial omics and biomedical imaging to advance biological and clinical discoveries and develop next-generation cancer theragnostics.

The postdoctoral fellows will mainly focus on (1) creating novel computational algorithms to analyze and integrate high-dimensional multimodal datasets, including scRNA-seq, spatial proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, and drug imaging of clinical specimens, and (2) developing 3D spatial multi-omics technologies and AI-driven computational approaches to reconstruct and redefine tissue architecture in 3D space. The goals of these projects are to uncover the rules governing the spatiotemporal dynamics of tumor microenvironment architecture that drives cancer progression and therapeutic resistance. The successful candidates will perform spatial omics profiling and analysis to infer biological and clinical insights and validate these findings. The candidates will work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with outstanding researchers and clinicians within and outside the department.

Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have a strong quantitative background, with a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical data science, biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate a record of publications in the area.
  • Strong knowledge in machine learning, statistics and programming skills (Python, R, or MATLAB) are required.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desirable: biomedical imaging, biomedical optics, computer vision, bioinformatics, single-cell profiling technologies, spatial omics, tissue clearing, light-sheet microscope, immunology and cancer systems biology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Required Application Materials:
  • Cover letter describing relevant research experiences, accomplishments, interests, and goals
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Name and contact information of three references

Appointment Start Date:
As soon as possible

How to Submit Application Materials:
