找成绩不好课程的老师写推荐信靠谱吗

本人在美读ME，现在1point3acres.com2015fall的cs master。期间修了一门算法课，但是由于当时对转专业不是很确定，极力想找本专业的暑假实习，因此不幸成绩很不理想，感觉反而成为申请的软肋。。
虽然说现在什么借口都没用了，，但是想请教下各位如果找这门课的老师写tinyurl.com会有什么后果？那门课教授同意给我推荐，但是只能基于我那门课的表现。。我是不是应该对这门成绩保持沉默那？求各位发表下看法。谢谢！
补充下，我实在对外国人的思维猜测不透，不知道他会怎么给我推荐，是坑我一下，还是救我一把。。邮件恢复如下
I worry that my recommendation may not help you at all. I will have to recommend based on your performance.So my recommendation is very unlikely to be useful. In fact, my worry is that your performance will instead weaken your case. Did you take any other CS course in which you did better? If so, it will be much wiser you can get recommendations from the instructors of those courses.
Please let me know if you still like me to write a letter for you.
