The University of North Dakota (also known as UND or North Dakota) is a public research university in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was established by the Dakota Territorial Assembly in 1883, six years before the establishment of the state of North Dakota. The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the College of Engineering & Mines supports degree programs and cutting edge research in areas related to Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, and Cyber Security. Multiple Graduate Assistantships (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Multiple fully funded Ph.D. positions are available for immediate hiring under Dr. Tingjun Lei at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND. The positions will cover stipends, tuition waiver and insurance, and the anticipated start dates are Spring/Fall 2025. The research group's mission is to conduct cutting-edge research on robotics and autonomous systems, bio-inspired artificial intelligence (AI), and optimization algorithms. Potential research topics include robot navigation, perception, control, human-robot interaction, applied artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, and bio-inspired neural networks. Students will be expected to publish research work in refereed journals and disseminate national/international conferences, Prospective individuals should have the following qualifications or present fast-learning abilities for programming.

QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering, or any other related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Strong mathematical background and proficiency in at least one computer programming language (e.g. Python, MATLAB, C++/C, Java, ROS)
Experience in machine/deep learning, robotics, sensors, computer vision, or image processing, along with peer-reviewed research records (e.g., journal publications), is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
