Two Fully funded Ph.D. positions in Computer Science and Engineering Department at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Khalili in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at The Ohio State University is looking for multiple Ph.D. students. The start date is Fall 2024/Winter 2025. Selected candidates will work on theoretical and applied machine learning problems focusing on trustworthy model compression, interpretability, fairness, and privacy for deep neural networks and foundation models. PhD students at Dr. Khalili’s lab generally start to publish papers in top AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, UAI, etc.) within the first semester of their PhD. This position requires a bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely-related discipline.
Bio: Dr. Khalili is an assistant professor in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at The Ohio State University. He received his Ph.D. degree in EECS from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also spent a year at the University of California, Berkeley as a post-doctoral researcher. His research interest is in the societal aspect of machine learning algorithms, specifically in the areas of robustness, data privacy, fairness, game theory and mechanism design. He was a recipient of the Rackham fellowship from the University of Michigan in 2015 and a finalist for the Eleanor Towner dissertation award in 2018. He has recvied several awards from NSF and Translational Data Analytics Institute for his research.
