2025 Spring/Fall PhD and Master Student Opening in Civil Engineering at University of Louisiana at Lafayette
Dr. Shaopeng Li’s research group invites applications from highly motivated students to conduct research in the broad areas of structural/wind engineering, community resilience, and machine learning. Support is available for one PhD student and one Master's student, starting in spring/fall 2025.
Responsibilities
·Conducting interdisciplinary research both independently and as part of a team
·Publishing research findings and presenting at conferences
·Assisting with teaching and mentoring undergraduate students (for PhD students)
Qualifications
·Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in civil engineering or a related field
·Strong educational background in math, physics, and mechanics
·Proficiency in programming (e.g., Matlab, Python, and C/C++)
·Excellent written and oral communication skills
·Motivation and commitment to conducting high-quality research

About the PI
Dr. Shaopeng Li is an incoming Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, starting in August 2024. He obtained his PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2022. After that, he started postdoctoral research at the University of Florida, working in the NSF NHERI-supported boundary-layer wind tunnel. His research interests include structural/wind engineering, community resilience, and machine learning.
