The Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory at UConn has multiple Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) positions available in the research area of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) design and analysis, and its applications in advanced process control, digital factories and smart transportation systems. These positions will be funded by multiple federal funding agencies, including NSF, NASA and US Department of Transportation (DOT), and private industries as well, including Emerson Automation Solutions and Texas Instruments. These projects will involve collaboration with research teams distributed across several US universities, e.g., the University of Texas at Austin, University of Notre Dame, the University of California at Santa Cruz, Purdue University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The responsibilities of these positions include:
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of novel real-time wired and wireless communication protocols for supporting emerging IIoT applications.
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of learning-based resource management techniques to support safety-critical and mission-critical IIoT systems with heterogenous architecture.
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of innovative secure communication frameworks to support verifiable and immutable services within/among IIoT systems subject to various resource constraints.
  • Contributing to research manuscript preparation and scientific presentations.
  • Presenting at site visits and other project team meetings including teleconference and video conference-based meetings.

Requirements:
  • BS or above degrees in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering by the time of appointment.
  • Strong background in embedded systems design and implementation, computer networks and wireless communication, algorithm design and analysis, as demonstrated by publications and past project experience.
  • Expertise with programming languages appropriate to the specific topic(s) of study and building/maintaining firmware and software systems.
  • Experience with real-time streaming data analytics and machine learning will be a plus.

Additional Information:
