The Lu’s Navigation and Autonomous Robotics (Lunar) Lab caltech-my.sharepoint.com at the Georgia Institute of Technology is actively seeking highly motivated and talented Ph.D. students starting in Fall 2024. Our lab is interested in perception and navigation problems for robots and autonomous systems in ground, air, and space applications. These positions are fully funded, including tuition, stipend, and medical insurance.

Bio: Dr. Lu Gan (ganlumomo.github.io) is an incoming Assistant Professor in the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and serves as a core faculty member of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines. Before joining Georgia Tech, she was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories of the California Institute of Technology. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She was named a Rising Star in Data Science by the University of Chicago in 2022. She serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters and an Associate Co-Chair for IEEE RAS Technical Committees on Computer and Robot Vision.
Research Topics
·       Learning for localization, mapping and navigation
·       Adaptive and active robot perception with pre-trained models
·       Vision-based planning and control with uncertainty quantification and safety constraints
Desired Qualifications
·Self-motivated and strongly passionate about the above research topics
·Solid mathematical background and knowledge in ML/DL, statistics, optimization and control
·Proficiency in coding and programming (e.g., C/C++, Python, ROS)
·Experience in real robotic platforms (e.g., drones, ground vehicles, legged robots, manipulators)
