PhD positions are open for Fall 2024 in the Cai Lab, part of the Tech4Health Institute at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, also affliated with the NYU Tadon School of Engineering. The Cai lab build optical metasurfaces and matermaterials for imaging and sensing, with dynamic tunable functions, and biomedical applications for both basic research and health care. We develop novel inverse design stategy, fabrication and integration methods with both top-down lithography and bottom-up self-assembly approaches. We seek candidates from backgrounds of engineering (electrical, mechanical, etc), optics, physics, materials science or other related fields. Our research work has been published in Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Protocols, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, ACS photonics, npj computational materials, etc. Dr. Cai has received multiple grants and awards, including a recent "Maximizing Investigators' Research Award" (MIRA, R35, $ 2 Million) from National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).
To apply, send your CV to Dr. Haogang Cai, at 1point3acres.com. Please include a detailed description of your research interests, a full list of publications, and names of three references. The Tech4Health Institute serves as a hub for the development of new enabling technologies for biological and biomedical applications, in collaboration with biologists, clinicians at NYUGSOM, and scientists from worldwide prestigious institutions. Immersed in the unique vibrant and innovative environment of the New York City, and one of the foremost medical schools in the world, this is an ideal place to develop and apply novel technologies to improve human health, a mission never more relevant than today.
