PhD Studentship in Biomedical Optical Instrumentation and Retinal Imaging Study
The Biomedical Optics and Ophthalmic Imaging group within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago is offering a PhD position for the Spring semester of 2024.
Our ongoing research includes ultra-wide field fundus photography, functional optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT angiography (OCTA), super-resolution ophthalmoscopy, and retinal image analysis and classification. To learn more about our work, please visit our website: yaolab.bioe.uic.edu.
As a PhD student in our lab, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of optical imaging instruments and engage in experimental studies on retinal morphology and physiology. The specific project you work on will be tailored to your educational background and interests, allowing for flexibility and personal growth.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a BS/MS degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have excellent opportunities to collaborate with researchers from various fields, including Engineering, Ophthalmology, and Visual Sciences, enabling multidisciplinary training and fostering a dynamic research environment.
