Fully funded PhD positions in Electrical Engineering, Clemson University
Fully funded PhD positions are available in Dr. Lianfeng Zhao's group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University, starting in Spring 2024 (application deadline is 9/1/2023) or Fall 2024 (application deadline is 1/15/2024). GRE and TOEFL scores are required.
Research Area:
Dr. Lianfeng Zhao’s research group aims to explore emerging thin-film materials and device concepts to develop the next-generation electronic and photonic devices and systems with the capacity to offer game-changing technologies in lighting, display, communication, computing, sensing, and renewable energy. Current focus areas include the use of metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, as well as nanostructured quantized matter for emerging applications in solar cells, LEDs, lasers, transistors, memory devices, and neuromorphic computing.
Professional Background of Dr. Zhao:
Dr. Lianfeng Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2019, M.S. from Tsinghua University in 2014, and B.E. from Xidian University in 2012, all in electrical engineering. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University from 2019 to 2022. His research focuses on optoelectronic thin-film materials, devices, and applications. His work has been recognized by a number of awards including the Princeton Wallace Memorial Honorific Fellowship and the Princeton School of Engineering and Applied Science Award for Excellence.
About Clemson University:
Clemson University is a leading public, land-grant research university located in Clemson, South Carolina, United States. It is classified as a Carnegie R1: Doctoral University with highest research activity. For years, Clemson has created and nurtured more than 100 research centers and institutes with state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and core support. As a full-time faculty member, the PI and the team have access to all Clemson University research facilities and ample opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across physics, chemistry and engineering. Furthermore, the PI has a dedicated lab space of approximately 1100 square feet, a hybrid space fully equipped for materials synthesis, device fabrication, and electrical/optical testing.
